Create on-topic chat discussions in each workspace.


Chats allow members to communicate with each other within the platform. It is a way to discuss topics, share updates, ask questions, and collaborate.

Note that Blue supports topic-based chats within workspaces, but not direct messages to individuals.

Creating Chats

To start a new chat:

  1. Navigate to the Chat tab in the workspace.
  2. Click the “+” button at the top of the chat sidebar.
  3. Enter a topic name and create the chat.

You can create multiple chats to discuss different topics.

Communicating in Chats

Once in a chat, members can:

  • Send rich text messages with formatting
  • Upload files by dragging and dropping or using the attachment button
  • @mention other members to notify them
  • Use the emoji picker to add reactions and expressions

Chats allow fluid, ongoing discussions without lengthy email threads.

Chat Features

  • Search and filter chats by topic name
  • Delete messages (shows who deleted the message and when)
  • Rename chat topics

Using Blue’s chats keeps key conversations and shared files organized in one place. With integrated notifications and mentions, they facilitate seamless team communication.
