Repeat

The repeating records feature automatically allows you to recreate a record on a defined schedule.

You can use repeating records in Blue to automate repetitive tasks so you do not have to manually recreate the same record every time. This is useful for scheduled work such as maintenance checks or recurring work. Recurring records follow the same structure by automatically carrying over checklists and custom field data.

Creating Repeating records

To set up a repeating record you open the record you want to repeat and click on the ••• menu and then repeat:

Repeat 1

You are then presented with the following options:

Repeat 2

Repeat Intervals

You can choose from four interval types:

  • Daily — repeat every N days
  • Weekly — repeat every N weeks, with the ability to select specific days of the week
  • Monthly — repeat every N months, either on a specific day of the month (e.g., the 15th) or on an ordinal weekday (e.g., the 2nd Tuesday)
  • Yearly — repeat every N years on a specific month and day

Repeat 3

Each interval type also offers these configuration options:

  • Interval count: Set how frequently the record repeats (e.g., every 2 weeks, every 3 months).
  • End Condition: Choose whether the record should repeat indefinitely (Never end), end after a specific date, or end after a certain number of repetitions.

Copy Options

When a repeating record gets recreated, you can choose what data gets copied over from the original record:

  • Description (included by default)
  • Assignees (included by default)
  • Tags (included by default)
  • Custom fields (included by default)
  • Checklists (included by default)
  • Comments (excluded by default)

Repeat 4

You are also able to choose which workspace and list the record should repeat in.

Be aware that if you delete the original record, this will stop new records from being created with the repeat option.

Active Repeating Records

For any records that are repeating, these will show the repeat symbol on the record card in Board View:

And also within the individual record:

Stopping the Repeat

To stop a record from repeating:

  1. Open the original recurring record
  2. Click the repeat icon
  3. Select the “Stop Repeating” option

Repeat 7

This will prevent any further recurring tasks from being created.
